Plastering Fibre Research Project

Fibres are one of the most important materials we use in plastering. There are currently two main options available on the mass market – animal fibres or plastic fibres  - niether of which are ethical or sustainable.

Over the last 6 months, we have been working with lime plasterers across the UK, to find an alternative plastering fibre that is both ethical, sustainable but prehaps most importantly - is easily scalable. There is a wealth of research on a number of available fibres but many aren't scalable without significant investment and processing. 

After much research and testing, we think we have found some great options. We are now on a mission to raise awareness of these options, and ultimately ensure that they are made easily available..

We would love you to join us in this online CPD session where we will discuss why finding an alternative to Chinese plastering fibres is so important and share our research with you.

• Our criteria and process for finding an alternative
• Our findings - a look at how each of the fibres in our project can be used - the benefits and limitations of each
• Discuss next steps  and how we can encourage the use of alternative fibres

Fibre Research Project - Funding

To date, our Fibre Research Project has been completely self funded. Proceeds from this CPD session will be invested into further research.
